Advanced Technologies: the critical
foundations of surveillance systems that redefine the 'art of the possible'
OUR CAPABILITIES
Advanced Technologies
Every effective surveillance system is underpinned by a series of core technologies, including sensors and transmission. We combine innovation and proven performance in our areas of focus and expertise, engineering and optimising technology for use in applications that often involve overcoming the challenges of remote, hostile or complex environments.
Within Advanced Technologies, we focus on the following areas:

SEE FEATURE >>
Real-time wireless surveillance streaming
We have world-leading capabilities in wireless video, audio and data streaming. With a radically different approach to video encoding and communications management, we can deliver high-quality, low latency surveillance over narrow bandwidth networks.
While many approaches to mobile surveillance are based on conventional video encoding standards – such as H.264 and MPEG4 – our team applies expertise in neural networks and mobile communications to keep us at the forefront of wireless surveillance.
We also design systems that can provide multiple encoding formats, both standard and proprietary, to make use of the best available bandwidth to ensure optimal surveillance performance in all conditions.
Surveillance transmission networks
We have more than twenty years experience in designing and engineering the network and communications infrastructures to support advanced surveillance systems. This includes networks built on analogue and digital fibre, IP-based technology and hybrid networks that combine both for flexible system expansion.
We have pioneered many of the leading innovations in surveillance transmission, including complex wave division multiplexing (CWDM), small-form pluggable optics (SFP) and networks designed for safety critical applications – including the demanding rail sector.
Unattended ground sensors
We have expertise in very low-power, wireless autonomous networks. Our technology is used to enable sensor systems to operate in intelligent networks - or to enhance existing fixed networks by making them more flexible and cheaper to install and improve.
Based on our wireless technology expertise, we have developed an unattended ground sensor (UGS) that provides a compelling combination of portability and ease of deployment, power efficiency, network resilience and cost-effectiveness.
