Responding to information in these situations requires a seamlessly integrated view of different sensory sources, often enhanced to provide a more meaningful picture. Innovative real-time sensor fusion, image processing and visualisation can also support interpretation of events, provide situational understanding and inform critical decision-making.

Digital Barriers develops advanced systems for enhanced vision and situational awareness, applying expertise and technologies in areas such as sensor/data fusion, image processing, 3D imaging, video content analysis and surveillance transmission. We work across multiple surveillance sensor formats, including visible-band, thermal IR, synthetic aperture radar and imaging sonar systems to provide the optimal situational awareness picture in a range of real world operational environments. Our solutions draw on an extensive portfolio of algorithms and sophisticated analytical techniques, delivering real-time sensor fusion and processing to inform the operator – whether that be on the ground, in the air, at sea or in a range of control centre scenarios. We embed our expertise into a range of preconfigured solutions, as well as creating bespoke systems for standalone deployment or incorporation into other platforms.

APPLICATIONS

We develop our enhanced vision systems and situational awareness solutions for defence, security, maritime, emergency response and aviation sectors. Our situational awareness and enhanced vision systems are applied to ground-based situational awareness, airborne search and rescue, border and perimeter security, satellite reconnaissance, detection of difficult and concealed objects, maritime navigation, piloting and night-time driving. We design ad engineer systems that make use of sophisticated specialist sensors – but our processing technology can also be applied to improve the performance of existing sensors cost-effectively.

Our enhanced vision and situational awareness solutions draw on a world-class portfolio of proprietary technologies and techniques – underpinned by the expertise of an internationally renowned group of research engineers in the field of image and data processing. We bring together our underpinning technologies, in areas such as highly accurate image registration and enhancement, to create innovative solutions – including panoramic imaging, real-time adaptive image fusion with zoom functionality, and in-motion scene change alerting.
